| The state of Chihuahua is located on the Northern border of Mexico. Juarez which is the largest city in the state is just across the Río Grande from El Paso, Texas. Chihuahua has a surface area of 244,938 square kilometers, making it the largest state in Mexico. Due to its topographic shape, Chihuahua has different climates: the north is mild, the east is dry and desert-like, and the south is semiwarm. The western area is mountainous and is sub-humid with extreme temperatures depending on the elevation. At the basis of the Sierra Madre it is semidry. The average annual temperature is 68º F. Chihuahua is a land of magnificent scenery - mountains, canyons, deserts and fresh,, clean, clear air. Its spectacular canyons are the biggest in North America. Within the canyons are beautiful waterfalls, one of which is the highest in Mexico. Chihuahua also contains fertile valleys - orchards and cropfields that were coaxed from the desert by the persistence of hardworking, warm, and loyal people. There are 390 "twin plants" in Chihuahua;
that employ more than 165,000 workers. Corporations such as Ford, Digital Equipment, Data General, Phillips, General Motors, Chrysler, Toshiba, Westinghouse, Zenith, RCA, General Electric, and Honeywell have successfully established manufacturing facilities in the state.
