June, 2009 Dear praying friend, Bad news, bad news! It seems the Mexican newspapers have been full of bad news in recent weeks. The drug wars have been affecting the nation for some time. Now more recently the outbreak of swine flu has continued to damage the country. Not only have there been a number of deaths due to the influenza but it also has greatly affected an already weak economy. However we are here to proclaim the good news. We are thankful for those that we have recently had the opportunity to share the gospel with. We would ask you to join us in prayer for their salvation. Alfonso who is 19 recently underwent surgery to remove a tumor from his tailbone. The surgeon was unable to remove it completely and Saturday he was told that the tumor is malignant. Alfonso’s family is still recovering from the death of his 7 year old brother Jonathan who died of a brain tumor on Easter Sunday. This family is in desperate need of the GOOD NEWS. Alfonso’s teenage sister Monce and his mother Mari have started attending the cell groups. Pray for the salvation of this family. Mari the mother, Alfonso the father, Monce and her two brothers and younger sister. Pray especially that Alfonso Jr. will be open to the gospel. It is interesting to see how God is working. God used the ministry of Marco Gudiño to bring this family into contact with the gospel. (Marco and Jenni are now on deputation raising their support to join our Guadalajara church planting team.) Marco had a ministry on the city buses evangelizing. He would get on a bus, play his guitar, sing gospel songs, and then give a brief presentation of the gospel. One day Aracely who is from a city 90 minutes from Guadalajara received one of the gospel tracts that Marco handed out on the bus with our phone number on it. Aracely was already a believer and she spends quite a bit of time in Guadalajara as some of her children are here studying. As it turns out Aracely is Alfonso’s aunt and has been witnessing to his family. She called us and put us in contact with this family. The Lord has given us the opportunity to share the gospel with them, as well as to share their grief and concern for Alfonso. Lalo is also 19. He has been attending for a few months and is doing an evangelistic Bible study. He has professed faith in Christ and desires that his family come to know the Savior. His family came with him on Mother’s Day and they seemed to really enjoy it. Pray for their salvation. His dad is Eduardo and his mother is Marcela. He has a younger brother Diego (14) and Fernanda (11) is his sister. Please also pray for the salvation of Carlos, Inés, Susana, Esther, Ana, Juan Carlos, Rafael and Lorena. Corrie and Bethamy are planning our summer day camps. The teen day camp will be July 14-17. The children’s day camp is planned for July 27-31. Angie and I will be taking a 7 week trip to the U.S. July 21 to September 15. We plan on visiting many of our supporters, recruit more missionaries for Guadalajara and visit our family. Be praying especially for Carlos, David and Gerardo as they will have much more responsibility while we are gone. Earlier this year we shared the good news that Javier and
Ines who had dropped out of the church 4 years ago called and asked us for help.
We have been studying the Bible with them weekly since then. This past month
they started attending regularly. Pray that they will allow God to rescue their
On May 19 our son Jeff celebrated his birthday. He called to tell that very day that our great granddaughter Teagan made her appearance. She is the daughter of our grandson Joshua and his wife Jessica. We are looking forward to meeting her in July! On December 25 of this year, the Lord willing, we will celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary! Our kids in Michigan are planning an open house for us when we are there this summer. The open house will be at the Entrican town hall on Sunday, August 16, from 3-5 p.m. We would love to see you if you can come. If you need more information you can call our daughter June Klink at 269-793-4063. Thanks so much for your prayers for us and the work here,
